About Me
Birth Doula
My name is Kelsey, I am mom to two (almost) teenagers, and wife to the coolest youth pastor on the block. I LOVE working with women through their pregnancy and birth journeys, and nerd out about birth. My goal as your birth doula is to work with you to get the best birth experience possible for your specific situation.
A birth doula assists you in finding evidence based information to help you better make your decisions in the pregnancy, labor and delivery, and early postnatal process.
After enduring a traumatic birth experience myself over decade ago, I have a strong desire to help mothers achieve a beautiful birth that they can look back on with awe and wonder.
Why a doula?
According to recent studies, having a doula (a trained labor companion, who is outside of your own social network, and who is not a staff member of the hospital or birthing location) gave the mothers the following benefits
-25% decrease in the risk of Cesarean
-8% increase in the likelihood of a spontaneous vaginal birth
-10% decrease in use of pain relief medications
-shorter labors by an average of 41 minutes
-38% decrease in the risk of a low five minute Apgar score
-31% increase in satisfaction with the birth experience
